Happy New Year, MacKid Readers!

I hope your holidays were magical!  Our family enjoyed several festive gatherings, despite a nasty virus that kept me in bed on Christmas Eve and threatened to derail our plans. It wasn’t the Christmas Eve I imagined, but I still managed to rally and enjoy Christmas Day with family. (I stayed in my pajamas all day on Wednesday, but that's a whole different story.)

Now that the holidays are behind us, it’s time to refocus! I’ve never been one to make resolutions, but I always try to start the year with fresh intentions: I intend to continue working out a few times a week; I intend to read more; I intend to live more in the moment more and spend less time on social media. These are intentions that rule my life on the daily, but this time of year always helps me to adjust and realign my priorities...and it goes without saying that my family and friends are always priority number one!

As we head full-steam into the thick of winter, it can become tricky to find family activities. In this week’s newsletter, you’ll find a guide to local indoor skating rinks (both ice and roller), and I plan on sharing more guides for indoor fun in the coming weeks. If there’s anything in particular you’d like me to focus on, please send me a message!

And even though I’m not a big resolution maker, there’s a great article in this week’s newsletter featuring 5 resolutions you’ll actually want to keep in 2019 (hint: they have nothing to do with losing weight or working out). You’ll also find a link to a printable Family Safety Binder that can help you establish a plan in case of an emergency. And, if you're a business owner, there's information about a special sale going on right now to have your business added to the MacKid Business Directory! Finally, you’ll find a list of January’s special and silly holidays and events, as well as insight into a flexible work-from-home position with VIPKid.

As always, thanks for reading. Cheers to a healthy and happy 2019!
