As a mom and local resident I strive to bring you the best kid and family event and activities in the Westmoreland County area as well as the surrounding Pittsburgh vicinity! I am not native to North Huntingdon or Westmoreland County though so Macaroni Kid is a great opportunity for me to continue getting to know this area better.  Our newsletter covers the communities and surrounding areas of North Huntingdon, Irwin, Penn Township, Trafford, Murrysville, Export, Delmont, Greensburg, Jeannette and Sewickley Township.  You will also see us promoting major events across the City of Pittsburgh.

In order to get the most out of your Macaroni Kid Subscription you'll want to use the Calendar and the My Macaroni features on our website. The Calendar will contain all of the events that Macaroni Kid is promoting from local libraries and area attractions and events to the Consol and Pittsburgh's major attractions. The My Macaroni feature is the little plus sign that can be found after each event.  When you click on the plus sign the event is added to your personal My Macaroni. Then click on the pink My Macaroni box at the top left of the newsletter.  Your events will be there to print out or e-mail a PDF version.

Cinco de Mayo - Mexican Enchilada Lasagna Recipe

Make this family friendly recipe on Cinco de Mayo or any night you are craving Mexican flavors! This was a big hit, loved by all at our house!

Ingredients:
1 pound lean ground beef
1 package low sodium taco seasoning
1 (8 ounce) jar red enchilada sauce
12 (6 inch) corn tortillas - we used La Tortilla Factory Hand Made Style Yellow Corn
1 can low sodium black beans
12-15 ounces frozen or canned corn
2 cup shredded Mexican cheese

Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees ...

Make your own maracas to celebrate Cinco de Mayo!

Kids will love this fun and easy Cinco de Mayo craft. Use paper or styrofoam cups and beans/rice to make musical maracas.

What you will need:
- 2 styrofoam or paper cups
- colored tape or hot glue gun
- paints in various colors
- decorative accents such as pom-poms, buttons, sequins, stickers, etc
- glue
- rice or beans or unpopped popcorn kernels

What to do:
