A Note from the Publisher

Dec. 6-13, 2018

By Jen Brozak--Publisher, Macaroni Kid North Huntingdon December 6, 2018

Hello, MacKid Readers!

Well, the holiday season is in full swing in our house--presents are being bought (though not yet wrapped), cookies are being baked, and letters to Santa have been sent! It’s easy to become overwhelmed during this time of year…throw a birthday into the mix, like my daughter’s this weekend, and life can become quite stressful!

That’s why in this week’s issue I’m sharing an article by a fellow MacKid publisher: Carissa Garabedian, publisher of Macaroni Kid Richmond, Va. Carissa wrote a great article, 10 Simple Ways to Reduce Holiday Stress, and it’s full of gentle reminders that we can all use this time of year!

For those of you who are on the hunt for a Christmas tree, I’ve created a guide to the area’s tree farms and stands. While some are quite local, others may require a short drive—perfect or a day trip! Also, for an upcoming article, I'm looking for the area's best neighborhood light displays -- if you know of one, send me an email!

You’ll also find information about Jammie Jam 2018 -- a fantastic, family-friendly New Year's event put on by the fabulous publishers of Macaroni Kid's Pittsburgh editions! Also check out the article on SkiPA’s Snowpass, which allows 4thand 5thgraders to ski for free at area ski resorts. Finally, if you love baking, you can sign up for “A Dozen Days of Cookies,” and Eggland's Best will send you a daily recipe featuring one their 12 favorite cookie recipes!

There are a lot of fun, family-friendly events in our area this coming week and weekend, including Greensburg’s 49th Annual Luminary Night (TONIGHT!), Murrysville’s Night of Lights, and Downtown Irwin’s Cookie Tour. You can many, many more activities and events on our events calendar!

Don't forget: Friday, Dec. 7 (tomorrow!) is the LAST DAY to enter the $900 Holiday Season giveaway!

Also, if you have a family-friendly event you’d like to add to our calendar, don’t forget that you can submit your events here! And you can email me anytime at jenniferbrozak@macaronikid.com.

Have a great weekend!
