3 Inspiring Lessons from Disney's "Frozen II"

Sponsored review for Disney's "Frozen II" and party ideas!

After viewing Disney’s “Frozen II” with family and friends, it was easy to see how this movie has been dubbed the #1 Animated Feature Film of All Time. In “Frozen II,” Elsa searches for the truth as to why she was born with magical powers. Along with Anna, Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf, she sets out to find answers and to save her kingdom from imminent danger. In the original, “Frozen,” Elsa had been afraid of her powers being too strong, but now we find out if they are strong enough to save herself and Arendelle.

“Frozen II” is packed with adventure, mystery, and wonderment. The action and excitement held my whole family’s attention, the hilarious antics of Olaf had everyone laughing out loud, and all of the songs are SO FUN to sing along with! Most importantly, though, it left me inspired. Here are 3 inspiring lessons that Disney’s “Frozen II” can help instill in you and your families:

1)  Never stop observing and asking questions.  Just like my 4 year old and pretty much all young children, Olaf exhibits an insatiable sense of curiosity and isn’t afraid to look for answers.  Olaf takes the time to truly observe the world around him and notices little details that we may often overlook as adults.  Then, he takes that extra step and asks, “Why?”  The lesson here is to not let the beauty and wonder of the world pass us by and, just like Olaf and every curious child, never stop learning.

2)  Break it down and do what is right.  Doing “the next right thing” becomes Anna’s mantra when nothing seems to be going right and all hope is slipping away.  This approach turns out to be helpful in more than just one way.  First, we all know that thinking about a big problem, or a multitude of problems, can quickly become overwhelming.  However, if you are able to focus on just one step at a time as you work to overcome a dilemma, the solution often becomes much more possible and attainable.  Also, Anna shows us that we must always consider what is right.  Sometimes the right decision is difficult to make because it may inconvenience us or may not benefit us as much as it will others. Sometimes the right decision isn’t obvious.  Nevertheless, if we break down a problem into smaller steps, take the time to consider how our actions will affect others around us, and strive to make the world a better place, the right choice will almost always become clear.

3)  Do not fear change or uncertainty.  It’s not easy, but in “Frozen II,” Elsa makes a decision to leave the life to which she has become accustomed to in order to “face the unknown.” She shows us that while predictability and routines can be safe and comfortable, it is virtually impossible to avoid the twists and turns of life.  Whether it’s purposeful or sudden and unexpected, change can be scary.  Maybe it’s our sweet babies growing up and becoming more independent, maybe you have an opportunity to pursue a new career, or maybe you’re just considering a new hairstyle.  There are times when we have to make a decision without being certain of the outcome, but, like Elsa, we must learn to trust our instincts, embrace new opportunities, take risks, and pursue our dreams.

My kids want to watch (and sing along with) "Frozen II" over and over again, and I don't mind at all, because these are just three of the many invaluable lessons we are learning from this family-friendly movie.
