Stage Right Summer Musical Theatre Camp!

March 28, 2019

Children who want to hone their acting, singing, dancing and musical theater skiills will want to be a part of the 2019 Stage Right Musical Theatre Camp!

Based in Greensburg, Stage Right School for the Performing Arts has been instructing students in the performing arts since 1998. This summer, Stage Right is offering two Summer Musical Theatre Camps for children ages 8 to 18. The first camp will take place on Monday, June 10-Saturday, June 29, with the show taking place on June 28 and 29.

The second summer camp will take place Monday, July 8 through Saturday, July 27, with shows on July 26 and 27. The camp runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Starting at 9 a.m. everyday, students begin their core classes, which are made up of Acting, Voice, Jazz, Tap, and Modern. The classes are broken into ability levels and each lasts 45 minutes. Every class is designed to give students a lot of information in a short amount of time. In acting classes, students work on monologues and scenes, as well as technique. Dance classes are meant to introduce and strengthen technique and stretch ability. Voice classes are designed to expand repertoire and strengthen technique while ensuring healthy vocal production. All classes are taught by trained professionals.

In the afternoon, after lunch, students in both age groups rehearse the show they will perform at the end of camp.

On the first day of camp, there is an audition. This is NOTHING to be afraid of. The instructors want you to do your best so you can have a chance to shine onstage! Most lead roles are double or triple cast depending on the number of students and roles. When we move into the theatre for the final days of camp, your whole day is now rehearsal only. Remember: rehearsals will accomplish more and create a better show if all of us work together and support one another!

Cost: $510 for one camp or $900 for both.

Stars of Tomorrow Camp and Spectrum Summer Camp

Two additional camps are also available at Stage Right this summer: The Stars of Tomorrow Camp and Spectrum Summer Camp!

Both camps take place Monday, July 29-Friday, August 2, with the shows on Saturday, August 3rd.

Stars of Tomorrow, taught by Renata Marino and Jeanne Kane, is a chance for our youngest students to receive their first training in theatre. This is the perfect starting point for anyone interested in being on stage. Students are encouraged to stretch their imagination, increase their confidence, and create characters. Many of our finest performers have started in this program. Students play theatre games, learn basics of singing, take beginner tap and jazz classes, and take part in a live performance at the end of camp.

Spectrum Theatre Initiative is an exciting new program that uses drama, music and dance to work with students with autism and other special needs to discover new things about themselves and the world around them. Developed by Renata Marino and based on national autism programs, this experience engages and challenges your student. Additionally, it encourages them to connect with themselves, social situations and each other in deep and enriching ways.

Cost: $200 each.
